IDEMIA

IDEMIA conference room with a wooden table, an LG display and a touch panel

IDEMIA designs digital identity, Internet of Things and digital payment solutions, as well as software quality management systems. At the company's office in Łódź, engineers, developers and testers work every day on applications and systems used by businesses all over the world. For this team, PROAV equipped the meeting rooms with presentation and video conferencing systems, and the break-out area with video projection and a sound system.

Project challenge

The meeting rooms were to be used for remote conferences with the company's clients and partners, so the equipment had to deliver high-quality audio and video transmission. Display sizes had to match the dimensions of the rooms so that content would be legible from every seat at the table.

The second task was to prepare the break-out area for presenting operational materials and for team-building events. In technology companies we start selecting equipment from the way teams work, so we split the systems into rooms for quick meetings and rooms for regular conferences.

AV system requirements

Call quality with clients. Calls with business partners required systems that would deliver clear sound and detailed images in both small and larger rooms. At the same time, the equipment had to be easy for every employee to use.

Screens matched to the rooms. We chose display sizes to suit the size of each room, so that content is clearly visible both in small meeting rooms and in larger conference rooms.

Small rooms: ad hoc meetings

A video bar and a 49-inch display. We equipped the small rooms with presentation and video conferencing kits consisting of 49-inch LG UL3E displays and Poly Studio USB video bars. The cameras work with any software installed on the user's computer, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Webex.

A meeting after plugging in two cables. To start a video conference, users simply connect their computer with an HDMI and a USB cable. This makes the kit ideal for meetings arranged without prior planning.

Larger rooms: Microsoft Teams Rooms

Conferencing without your own laptop. In the larger rooms we installed 65-inch LG UL3E displays and Poly MTR series video conferencing systems with the native Microsoft Teams Rooms application. Employees do not need to bring their computers, and they control the meeting from a touch panel on the conference table.

Framing matched to the meeting. PTZ cameras with 12x optical zoom make it possible to narrow or widen the shot, for example to show remote participants material on the whiteboard in the room.

Clear sound at the table. The room is completed by Poly Trio 8800 tabletop conference phones. NoiseBlock technology suppresses background noise, so participants can hear the other party clearly.

Break-out area: projection and sound

Two sound zones. We installed Apart Audio OVO5T installation loudspeakers on the ceiling of the break-out area and divided them into two independently controlled zones.

Presentations even in daylight. In the presentation area we installed a 5,000-lumen BenQ MH760 projector and a 270 cm wide Adeo Screen Professional roll-down screen. The image stays sharp and vivid even during the day.

Outcome

IDEMIA's teams have two types of rooms at their disposal: small ones, where a meeting starts as soon as a laptop is plugged in, and larger ones, where a Microsoft Teams Rooms video conference starts from the panel on the table. Calls with clients and partners take place with good picture and sound quality.

The break-out area serves several purposes: it is used for presenting operational materials and, thanks to the two sound zones, also for team-building events. We used a similar split into BYOD rooms and a shared area with projection at the headquarters of Assa Abloy.

Employees do not waste time setting up equipment: in the larger rooms they do not need their own computer, and the Poly Trio phones suppress background noise during calls. The PTZ cameras can show remote participants both the people in the room and the material on the whiteboard, which makes it easier to discuss projects with clients.

We matched the displays and video conferencing kits to the size of each room, installed the equipment in the meeting rooms and conference rooms, and fitted a sound system and projection set in the break-out area. As a result, the whole office uses consistent equipment tailored to the way its teams work.
