Smart Jet
Smart Jet is a private airline that charters light jets, including the Hawker 400XP, for short- and medium-haul flights. Its clients include private and business travellers, among them corporate boards and senior executives of international organisations. Coordinating flights and managing the fleet calls for tools that support operational decision-making. For the team at the company's headquarters, PROAV installed and commissioned a video wall with a content management system and wireless presentation.
The client's goal was to locate and track aircraft more effectively and to dispatch the fleet more efficiently. The video wall was to display a map showing the position of the entire fleet, updated in real time from an application, and to accept images from several sources with simple management of the content layout.
We have been designing video walls for corporate offices for years, both for meeting rooms and for operational work areas, and at Smart Jet the screen had to combine both roles. When selecting the solution, we therefore took into account visibility from the whole open-plan area, smooth display of flight routes and the way the screen would fit into the wall cladding.

Visibility from the whole open-plan area. Content on the screens had to be legible for every employee in the open-plan office, wherever their desk is.
Smooth real-time image. The priority was smooth display, making it easy to follow routes and the current position of the aircraft.
A screen for meetings too. The video wall was also to be used for wireless presentations during internal team meetings.
A seamless 110-inch image. We built the video wall from four 55-inch Toshiba TD-Y553M displays in a 2×2 layout. Narrow bezels make the combined displays form a coherent surface, and we fitted the whole wall into cladding made of sheet-metal panels, so that the screen and the cladding form a single fit-out element.
Fewer cables and easy servicing. We connected the displays in a daisy chain, reducing the number of cable connections. Each screen is mounted on an Edbak VW-POP65L pop-out mount which, with a light push, releases the display from the wall and gives convenient service access.

Screen layout set by the team. To control the content, we deployed the EVEO URVE system. A designated employee creates graphic layouts and adds remote sources, while a dedicated server also acts as a media player and allows the displayed messages to be managed over the LAN.
Presenting from a laptop or tablet. We complemented the video wall with a Kramer VIA GO wireless presentation system, which transmits HD video and audio. Meeting participants share the screen of their computer, laptop or tablet and present content from a single application.
The Smart Jet team can see the position of the entire fleet on one large screen, updated in real time. The image is legible from the whole open-plan area, which makes it easier to coordinate flights and take operational decisions.
With the EVEO URVE system, the company changes the layout of the displayed content and adds new sources itself. During team meetings the same screen is used for wireless presentations, and the pop-out mounts shorten any service work.
Built into the sheet-metal panel cladding, the video wall is also a showpiece of the office: it catches the eye as soon as you enter the open-plan area and reproduces the colours of the displayed graphics well. Daisy-chaining the displays reduced the number of cables, which helps keep the cladding tidy.
PROAV was responsible for selecting the displays and mounts, installing the video wall in the cladding, cabling and commissioning the content management and wireless presentation systems. You can read more about how we connect video walls to content from multiple sources on our control room page.
