Supreme Court
The Supreme Court (Sąd Najwyższy), established in 1917, is the highest body of the Polish judiciary. Among other things, it rules on the validity of elections to the Sejm and the Senate and of presidential elections, gives opinions on legislation and resolves legal questions that raise doubts. In its courtroom, materials presented during hearings and plenary sessions must be legible to everyone present. PROAV selected and installed new NEC projectors there and integrated them with the existing signal splitter, restoring a bright, clear image on both screens.
When the Supreme Court approached PROAV, the courtroom was using projectors installed by a previous contractor. Their brightness did not suit the conditions in the room, so the image was unclear and too dark. The client therefore expected not just an equipment replacement but, above all, an image that would be legible in the conditions of this particular room.
The experience PROAV has gained over more than 15 years in the assembly rooms of public institutions shows that image quality depends on matching the projector to the light, the projection distance and the screen layout. So before choosing the equipment, we analysed the room's brightness, the screen positions and the distance from the mounting location specified by the client.

An image legible in a bright room. The courtroom is very bright, and the content presented – rich in colour and fine detail – has to be visible from every seat, for everyone present.
Projection over a long distance. The client decided to mount the projectors on the ceiling, several metres from the projection screens. The equipment therefore had to combine high brightness with optics that keep the image sharp over this distance.
Reliability within a reasonable budget. The client wanted equipment from a proven manufacturer known for durable hardware, while keeping investment costs reasonable.
Brightness matched to the sunlight. After analysing the conditions in the room we chose NEC P554U lamp projectors with a brightness of 5,300 ANSI lumens. They display clear, saturated content in moderate sunlight, and if necessary the room can be dimmed slightly with the window blinds.
A detailed image from the ceiling. WUXGA 1920x1200 resolution, 1.6x zoom and automatic geometry correction ensure a detailed image even when projecting from 12 metres. The chosen model meets the room's requirements without straining the client's budget.

Integration with the existing signal distribution. During hearings and plenary discussions, the same content is often shown on both screens. We therefore integrated the new projectors with the signal splitter already in the room, which allows an identical image to be presented on both screens at once.
Scope of the upgrade. The upgrade covered replacing the projectors, mounting them on the ceiling and integrating them with the existing signal distribution, without having to rebuild the entire presentation system.
The new projectors have restored a bright, clear image in the courtroom, legible to all participants in hearings, even in daylight. The same materials are shown on both screens at once, so everyone in the room can see them from their seat. The window blinds remain a supplementary measure rather than a condition for a legible image.
Equipment from a proven manufacturer meets the reliability requirement, and choosing the model for the actual conditions in the room made it possible to achieve the expected image quality within a reasonable budget. Automatic geometry correction makes it easier to maintain a correct image when projecting from the ceiling.
PROAV's scope of work covered analysing the conditions in the room, selecting and installing the projectors and integrating them with the signal splitter. For another judicial institution, the National Council of the Judiciary (Krajowa Rada Sądownictwa), we equipped the main assembly room with a discussion system. PROAV starts a projection upgrade by assessing the conditions in the room, not by replacing equipment with more powerful models.
Planning a projection upgrade in your assembly room?
We upgrade projection systems in the rooms of public institutions – during a site survey we will assess the lighting and distances in your room and prepare a proposal tailored to its conditions.
